4) Before Carlson leaves with the dog, Slim reminds him to take a shovel with him. He does this because he needs it to bury the dog after he kills it. This shows slim as a thoughtful and caring character. It also allows the reader to realize that the men that live in these houses do not care as much for each other as they do for themselves.
response to question number 4:
Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel with him to bury the dog after he shoots it. i think this shows that slim has a greater respect for the animal and is thinking ahead. he isn't just concerned with getting the dog out of the bunk house so it doesn't stink everything up any more, like carlson is. i think slim realizes that the dog's time has come and he wants the animal to be put out and layed to rest in a proper, restpectful manner.
2. Slim seems very suprised that two men are traveling together. Slim seems to think that it's a good thing that the two travel together because it makes the tiems a little better to have a friend. The boss imidiently thinks that George is trying to steal part of Lennies share. This shows that the boss trusts people less tahn slim.
5. I think that slim has the power and respect on the ranch that he does because he has probably been there for quite a while. Also he seems to be a very nice guy, sticking up for lennie by telling curley his hand simply got caught in a machiene rather than blabbing to teh boss.
Question 4:
Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel with him when he goes to shoot Candy's dog. He does this out of respect for the dog, and for Candy's thoughts. It distingushes Slim from the other characters because it shows that he actually cares about the feelings of some of the other ranchers, and it not just concerned with getting the dog out of the room.
4. The reason that Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel with him is because he wants Carlson to bury the dog once he is done killing it. This makes me think of Slim as a more caring person than any of the other men. Carlson was just going to shoot it and leave the body there to stink and decay. Slim wanted the dog to be buried in a proper way which gives me a sense that he really does care about the dog and how Candy must have been feeling.
2) Slim's reaction to George and Lennie traveling together contrasts greatly with that of Curly or the boss. He is surprised by this fact and asks George about it, not just as a comment on the fact, but with the purpose of finding an answer. He is the kind of person that doesn't judge people and gives them a chance of explanation. Once he hears George's answer, he accepts it, and moves on. Curly and the boss are both suspicious of this unusual companionship and make it very clear that they won't be fooled by anything.

4. Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel. He does this so that the dog can be buried. This is done so that Candy won't see his dog with a bullet hole in his head. Slim is respectful and tries to keep peace on the ranch. The other men just wanted the dog dead and Slim wanted it done the right way.
PROMPT FOUR:
As Carlson leaves with Candy's dog, preparing to put it out if it's misery, Slim's voice calls out to him, reminding him to take a shovel, for the obvious reason of burying the dog once it is dead.
It is rather unique that Slim would remember to tell Carlson to do so, because even the reader isn't thinking it at the moment. Slim's action shows that he is a more compassionate person than the other men, as well as the fact that Slim seems to appreciate every form of life. While Carlson had been planning to shoot the dog and then leave it be, Slim respected the animal, and made sure that it found a peaceful resting place after a long a weary life.
5.
Slim seems to be the father like figure on the ranch. He is very kind and had the respect of the men he works with. Slim works hard and he is one of the only people who understands Lennie and Georges relationship. When Carlson wanted to kill Candy's dog, Candy would not let him until Slim said that he should let Carlson kill the dog. That shows that slim is very respected and people take his advice. Slim also wanted Carlson to bury the dog which shows that he cares about the dog even though it was not his.
4. Before Carlson leaves to shoot Candy's dog, Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel with him to bury the dog. Slim does this because Carlson was only thinking about killing an animal and not a man's best friend. Slim understood that the dog meant a great deal to Candy and wanted the dog to be buried out of respect. This shows that Slim is a character who is very wise and aware of other's emotions.
4) Before Carlson leaves with the dog, Slim reminds him to take a shovel. The shovel will be used to bury the dog after Carlson kills it. This shows that Slim respects the animal enough to make certain that it is buried. The other men dont care much about the dog, but Slims character obviously deviates from the "norm" in that he cares about what happens to the dog other than just getting it out.
4) Before Carlson leaves with the dog Slim reminds him to take a shovel. Slim does this to make sure that Carlson actually burries the dog and atleast repsectfully puts him to rest. Even though Slim is letting Carlson shoot the dog he is doing it with his best intentions, to put the dog out of it's misery. This shows Slim's respect for animals and thoughtfullness(is that a word) /preparedness(again) in general.
Question 4:
When Carlson leaves slim tells him to bring a shovel. odviously the shovel is to bury the dog when Carlson kills it. It shows that slim is a person that thinks things through before doing them. The other guys though are more conceited and obsessed with themselves.
2)
Slim's reaction to the two men traveling together is one of content. He feels as though they travel together because they lean on each other. Slim's view of Lennie and George's friendship closely resembles how he feels about their traveling. He tells them that no on in the world "seems to give a damn about no body". Curley on the other hand seems to feel that Lennie is holding George back from his work and is more timid to the thought of the two being so close.
5. I think Slim is one of those people that has this aura of power. He seems like a person that when you can't help but respect and look up to. He's probably been working there the longest. I assume he's, at least, mildly intelligent, and the authority on all things important in ranch life. He's also very skilled at what he does on the ranch.
2) At first Slim finds it odd that a man like George, smart and collected, would be traveling with a man like Lennie, distant and far from bright. But after talking with George, Slim comes to understand why Lennie must tag along. After first meeting George and Lennie, the boss immediately thinks that George has intentions of claiming part of Lennie’s share. For this reason he believes George allows Lennie to accompany his traveling.
5) Slim has the power and respect he does on the farm because he has earned it. He is fit and strong enough to dissuade others from fighting with him, while at the same time being small enough to to cause unreasonable fear. He has the good sense to let George tell him about Weed without criticizing. At the same time, his complete and utter lack of malice does not invite ill feelings.
4) Slim reminds Carlson to bring a shovel so he can bury the dog after he shoots it. He does this becuause he respects the dogs and for Candy's feelings. By having Slim ask Carlson to bring a shovel it shows that he is more caring then the other men.
4. Before Carlson leaves with the dog, Slim reminds him to take a shovel with him. Slim reminds him to do this so that after Carlson shoots the dog he can bury him. It makes Slim seem more caring towards animals than some of the other men working on the ranch that just wanted the dog gone.
Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel with him. This is so Carlson will have a way to bury the dog. This really shows Slim's true character, someone who respects animals, as well as the people around him. I think this is partly why everyone looks up to him - he is a good person.
4. Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel. He says this because Carlson planned on killing the dog (this part, if I may say, I just thought was totally cruel and unnecessary. It saddened me deeply). These words differentiate Slim from some of the other men, like Candy, because he is more harsh and he was insensitive to Candy's feelings toward his dog that he loved so much. (My apologies for that totally long sentence)
The reason that Slim reminds Carlson to take a shovel with him. He wants him to bury the dog. This action shows slim as somewhat more caring than the other men. Carlson was just going to kill it and leave it there. Slim wants the dog to rest peacefully.
Whit shows Slim an article. It was special because his friend wrote it and got it published. It shows that getting your name in pritn at that time period was a really cooll thing
